All Together Now for Ever-ton

Much as Rob and Sal might have slagged off the XFM breakfast show’s attempts to find a song for the England team for Euro 2004, (yes, the winning song Born in England is derivative, Oasis-esque guitar music, but I like derivative guitar music!), at least it’s better than the FA’s official choice, announced today. Obviously I’m flattered that they are re-releasing Everton’s 1995 FA Cup Final record, All Together Now, but I’m not sure all those lyrics about Dixie Dean and the greatest ever team will be entirely appropriate for the England squad.

Maybe the musical genius DJ Spoony will be changing the names in the lyrics, but what I really want to know is whether Daniel Amokachi and Paul Rideout will sing on the new version.

“There has been intense media speculation” says the FA site.

Aw. Bless.

Hello? Sorry, what?

Perhaps you didn’t catch the sarcasm when I described DJ Spoony as a “musical genius”…

Yes musical genius, but still wanna know where the shirt came from?
